What to know before your first visit.

VeraMind is currently accepting patients located in Alabama. Texas, Oregon, and Washington are not yet open for scheduling.
VeraMind accepts Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, Carelon Behavioral Health, Curative, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Virtual Network), and Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania (Virtual Network) through Headway. More plans are being added — contact us to confirm your coverage. Coverage depends on your individual plan and is verified through Headway before care. Self-pay with superbills is also available.
No. VeraMind is not enrolled with Medicare or Alabama Medicaid and is unable to accept patients covered by either. We operate strictly on a fixed flat-rate self-pay schedule ($259 initial / $129 follow-up) or through accepted commercial insurance via Headway, and we do not offer sliding-scale fee programs or financial hardship applications.
VeraMind sees teens and adults, ages 13 to 65. Patients under 19 need a parent or guardian's consent and involvement at the first visit. All visits are by secure video, and the patient must be physically located in a state where we are licensed at the time of the visit — currently Alabama.
The initial evaluation is a full video visit — expect a thorough conversation about your history, current symptoms, and goals, not a rushed check-the-box intake. Follow-up visits are shorter and focused on how your plan is working.
No referral is needed. You can book directly, though we're always happy to coordinate with any therapist or primary care provider you're already seeing.
VeraMind does not offer standalone therapy. Psychotherapy is provided in conjunction with medication management — supportive, evidence-based approaches such as CBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused and mindfulness-based techniques are woven into your visits. If you want ongoing weekly therapy, we're glad to coordinate with a therapist and can help point you toward one.
Controlled-substance prescribing is never guaranteed. It depends on clinical appropriateness, patient history, the patient’s location, and applicable federal and state rules. Your clinician will discuss appropriate treatment options during the evaluation.
Yes. Visits take place over a HIPAA-compliant video platform, not a standard consumer video call app. We recommend joining from a private space with headphones for an added layer of privacy on your end.
We ask for as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule so that time can be offered to another patient. Specific cancellation windows and any fees will be confirmed when you book.
Only if you opt in. If you'd like appointment reminders or updates by text, you'll confirm that consent when you provide your number. Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out.
